Mayor JB Bernos elected as new LMP National President

Pasig City- The League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) recently held its first National Directorate Meeting last September 29, 2022 at the Metrotent Convention Center, Pasig City. The LMP National Directorate, with 76 Chapter Presidents present, gathered to elect the new set of National Executive Committee officers for the Term 2022-2025, as mandated by Article 8 of the LMP By-Laws. Mayor JB Bernos of La Paz, Abra was elected as the new National President.

Mayor JB Bernos formerly served as a member of the Philippine House of Representatives representing the Lone district of Abra from 2016 to 2022. Prior to his work in Congress, Mayor Bernos also served as the municipal mayor of La Paz, Abra for two consecutive terms with his last term as the LMP Vice President for External Affairs. This 2022 Philippine general elections, he won unopposed and elected to the highest position in the League of Municipalities of the Philippines.

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. led the oath taking of the newly elected officers of the LMP Executive Committee for the new term following the National Elections. His Excellency encouraged to carry out critical projects focused on digitization and infrastructures. The President also ensured that no LGUs will be left behind in the implementation of the Full Devolution.

The Interim President Mayor Luis “Chavit” Singson welcomed the new administration under the leadership of Mayor JB Bernos with a promise that their “commitment to be of service to the Filipino people will remain.” He also reminded the new set of LMP National Directorate that tasks ahead will not be very easy, but it will always be bearable if the officers will work together.
